A funny thing happened on my way to finishing a story….

I was working on finishing the rewrite of my short story, We Can Reschedule…, but this weekend, Ben and Melody were moving. So, since they helped me, I had to help them. I got some free discarded furniture out of the deal though. So that’s good.

Keep your eyes open for what I hope to be a massive site redesign coming soon! It’s good to have a fiancee who knows color coordination and organization…

You’ll see…

By the way…

I won the lottery! TWICE!

Perhaps I should give you details before you request some of my winnings. Firstly, all of my winnings have been spent. On laundry and a few more tickets.

For I matched one number + the mega number on Wednesday, and three numbers on Saturday, and I am now 13 dollars richer. PLUS I won a free scratchy ticket.

Maybe I should hit the bingo halls and see what I can shake out of the gray-hairs before the authorities catch on…

Aaaaaah…COMIC-CON!

Aside from my kid being born, this is the greatest night of my life. So sayeth Rocky Balboa, so echo I. San Diego Comic Con. I knew there was a reason I moved to Los Angeles. For that one chance every year to be part of something that is not quite rock concert, not quite renaissance faire, not quite geeky, and not quite cool. Or perhaps it’s the fact that it is 100% geeky and 100% cool. Anyway, a write up is coming soon, with pictures, and ye shall all be suitably impressed at the celebrities I saw there. Well, some were pseudo celebrities, and some were dressed like celebrities, and there was one pimp who may have thought he was at the erotica expo. I’m not sure. I got a monkey print and an original monkey sketch from Ken Knudtsen, creator of the wonderful My Monkey’s Name is Jennifer. SO THERE! Keep your eyes peeled!

In other news… contests have been entered and letters sent out. So if you’ve been wishing me luck, please wish harder.

That is all.

Angel of Waters…the draft…finally….

So, finally, Angel of Waters is in full working order. I’ve finished a draft that I’m actually happy with, happy enough to revise and edit as is, instead of changing the plot constantly. So that’s a good thing. I sent the script in to a contest for ABC/Disney studios, so wish me luck! Also, a reading tomorrow night! I must go buy ink… and paper… and print the damn thing out. I hate sending things out without a proper read, but deadlines are deadlines…Anyway, more to come…

Coming up for air…

Yes, I’ve been at the grindstone, both at work and at the computer, feverishly trying to finish a draft of Angel of Waters for a script competition. Whee! It’s actually nice to be so close to finishing. I can finally put these characters down after two years of tinkering between books.

Speaking of books…

Well, nothing happening yet on the book front. Next weekend is dedicated to sending out query letters. And the waiting shall begin…

There are more movie reviews up on my movie page. And if anyone knows of a good, cheap WYSIWYG web page designer, I’d like to know, because publisher is getting way too stupid for me. It never does what I want.

The latest…

It’s hard to put together a new play reading in Los Angeles when you don’t know too many people and your job hours are inconstant… so a reading opportunity for me has come and gone. But that’s okay! This gives me more time to polish, finish, and prod around inside the play to make it sparkle.

Yes, I said sparkle, and it’s not even musical theater.

At any rate, I’m hoping you’ll be reading more about the results of my reading within a week or so…

Keep your eyes peeled!

Ronald Reagan…

So, here we are on day 5 of the beatification and ascension of the Great Communicator. Ronaldus Magnus, as Rush Limbaugh would call him…

Which makes me wonder why people take Rush Limbaugh seriously at all. Is he implying Reagan was the head of some world-spanning empire, the leader of a conquering army bent on dominating… oh, wait. I guess Rush has a point there.

What I hear most is “He made me smile” or ‘I liked him, he was friendly”. Which makes me realize where his real power was. He was an actor, plain and simple. Did he HELP a lot of good things happen during his tenure (ie – The fall of the Berlin Wall, etc.)? Sure. Did he DO them single-handedly? No way. Gorbachev helped, the bankrupting of Russia helped (although Ronnie may have had something to do with that), Chernobyl helped…Arming Afghani insurgents helped, and boy are we glad he did that! Helping Iraq defeat the tyranny (pronounced TIErunny according to our current leader)of the Ayatollah by arming and supporting Saddam Hussein.

Hey, if you like or dislike the state of America today, you know where to start looking.

He gave us Race-based politics, the politics of fearing your neighbor, fearing the unseen enemy, fearing your own shadow, which could be burned onto a wall in a surprise Nuclear (Nuculer, thank you GW) attack from the Evil Empire.

Don’t get me wrong, there are political problems today that can be traced back hundreds of years through may administrations and political parties, both dead and thriving. But can we call off Reagan’s ascension to sainthood? Please?

Uh… I’m sorry I’ve been so political lately. But when I see Democrats and republicans throwing away our money, spending more time and effort trying to make the public think they are doing things rather than actually doing them, and I see that 1/4th of my paycheck goes to support this, I get angry. You should too.

VOTE!

Have you seen my new blogs? I have Movie Reviews, Book Reviews, and Music Reviews! FUN! That will allow me to free up this blog for its original intention: political ramblings! Well, actually, it will mostly be about my writing, how I’m progressing, what I’m accomplishing and thinking of, etc. You know, the kind of thing most authors wait to do until after they’ve published and people care. But i’ll still insert the random humor and political insights…

So anyway, have you been telling your friends about this site? Why not? Go! Help spread the word! Tell them to link to me! (I’ll link to them…if it’s a cool site…)
